Terms of service
Last updated: August 2026
1. Who these terms apply to
Cost InSight is a product of Maribo Softwares (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa (registration number 2020/755292/07) ("Cost InSight", "we", "us").
These terms apply to every practice that subscribes to Cost InSight, and to every client-entity user a practice invites onto its own branded instance of the product. By creating an account or using Cost InSight, you agree to these terms.
2. The service
Cost InSight is white-label accounting software: bookkeeping, invoicing, VAT201 reporting, and related features, provided per client entity per month. A practice may present Cost InSight under its own brand to its clients; Cost InSight branding is not forced onto client-facing surfaces.
3. Pricing and billing
Current pricing is published on our pricing page, ex VAT. Pricing may change with notice; existing pilot/founding-partner rates are honoured for their agreed term. Practices are billed for their client entities; a practice's own books tenant is free.
4. Cancellation and data export
You may cancel at any time. On cancellation, we will not continue billing beyond the current billing period. You can export your data (contacts, invoices, journal entries, and other accounting records) from within the product before or after cancellation, for a reasonable period afterwards.
5. Refunds
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not refund the unused remainder of a billing period on a pro-rata basis.
When you add or update a payment card, a small once-off verification charge (currently R2.00) may be processed to confirm the card; it is refunded automatically.
If you are billed in error — for example a duplicate charge, or a charge after your cancellation took effect — contact us at hello@costinsight.co.za and we will refund the erroneous amount to the original payment method.
Nothing in this section limits any right you have under applicable South African consumer protection law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Cost InSight for any unlawful purpose, to attempt to access another tenant's data, or to interfere with the operation of the service.
7. Data and privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy and POPIA notice.
8. Availability and support
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Support is provided via the contact channels published on this site (currently WhatsApp Business and email); response times are best-effort at this stage of the business.
9. Liability
[Placeholder — a proper limitation-of-liability clause, appropriate for software that holds client financial and VAT records, needs to be drafted with legal input before launch.]
10. Changes to these terms
We'll update the "last updated" date above whenever these terms change materially, and will make reasonable efforts to notify active practices of significant changes.
